The Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education celebrates the outstanding work of UK colleges and universities in transforming lives and communities.

The Prize was recently awarded to Population Data Science at Swansea University, acknowledging the work of the world-leading SAIL Databank.

Launched in 2007 as a pilot study SAIL brings together, links and analyses data from multiple sources to deliver population-level insights for government and policymakers. Utilising the extensive data available in the SAIL Databank, healthcare professionals and data scientists can conduct robust research on the Welsh and UK populations.

The Prize was presented to Swansea University’s Chancellor Dame Jean Thomas, Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Boyle and Professor Ronan Lyons by Queen Camilla and the Duchess of Gloucester at ceremony held at Buckingham Palace.
